How much does training cost?

All NHAS training is free of charge. This includes our events, face-to-face training, webinars and bitesize e-learning packages 

Who can attend?

You have to be eligible for NHAS to access our courses. Find more information on who is eligible.

Our courses, events, briefings and webinars are open to all local authorities, public authorities, Citizens Advice, and voluntary agencies. Some are more suitable for staff in specific roles or require some existing knowledge. This will be specified in the course outlines.

Can we have a course delivered locally?

Yes, our face-to-face training courses are available for free delivery to groups of 8-16 staff at a time and location to suit you. 

If you don’t have sufficient delegates you could invite staff from local organisations to join you. If you want to do this please ensure you have agreed a couple of possible training dates with them and can guarantee at least eight delegates before submitting your enquiry to nhastraining@shelter.org.uk.

When does the training day start and finish?

Most of our face-to-face training courses are one day in length. Our foundation course is over two days. Most courses start at 10am and finish around 4:30pm. Briefings usually last for half a day.

How do I book onto scheduled training courses and webinars?

Login to the training portal using your training user ID and password. Find the course or webinar you require using the ‘keyword’ search box, pick the appropriate date and location and book your place. 

How do I request a training portal login?

If you don’t have a training login send an email titled ‘training portal login request’ stating your full name, organisation, location and postcode to nhastraining@shelter.org.uk.

How do I reset a training portal login?

If you have forgotten your user ID or password, you can reset it in the portal. If you are still having problems, please email nhastraining@shelter.org.uk

What are webinars and how do I access them?

Webinars allow us to provide short training sessions (75-90 mins) online to people in different locations. Sessions are usually live and interactive so you can both listen and speak to the trainer. 

All you need to access our webinars is a computer in a quiet location with an internet connection. We use Zoom to deliver our webinars. This webinar platform does not require Adobe Flash, or for you to dial in. If this is not an option, you can listen to the webinar by calling a phone number which we will provide.

We send out a joining email to delegates before the course which provides full instructions on how to join.

How much will the webinar call cost?

Our webinars are delivered through Zoom and are free to attend. There is no need to dial in on any number as they can be joined using your computers audio.

If you cannot join using computer audio, you can call the telephone number that will be provided to delegates in the joining instructions and follow the webinar listening to the trainer and reading the slides.

In the event you decide to use a chargeable number to join a Zoom webinar, you will be charged based on the rates of your phone service provider.
