Training for professionals

Funded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and delivered by Shelter, NHAS provides free training to local authorities, voluntary agencies and public authorities. 

NHAS training responds to the latest developments and is aimed at frontline staff working with people dealing with housing or homelessness-related issues.

What training is available?

Currently, our training offer for individual members of staff remains online, through our range of e-learning and ninety-minute webinar topics.  

Group webinar delivery

Webinars can be delivered, for free, to groups of staff at NHAS eligible organisations, including basic tailoring where appropriate. We can deliver webinars to a minimum of 15 delegates and a maximum of 25 delegates per session. Please contact nhastraining@shelter.org.uk with any requests or queries.

Please note: we are fully booked for group webinar delivery throughout November and December. If you need training delivered to a group of staff before January 2022 Shelter Training can deliver this for a fee.

Group training at your own venue

We are starting to reintroduce face-to-face training for groups of 8 to 16 delegates.

We can deliver the following full-day face to face training courses:

  • Housing Status and Security of Tenure
  • Homelessness Duties
  • Advising on Possession Proceedings for Rented Housing
