Free housing and health event

Posted by nicola_marklew December 12, 2018

Update: All staff groups eligible to book a place

If you have an interest in the subject being discussed you are welcome to join us for a morning of learning, sharing good practice and networking with others. Here is a flyer with more detail.

Places will be allocated to health and social care staff first, but you do not need to work in the health or social care sector to book a place; you may work in a housing advice team, allocations team, local citizens advice or within an independent advice setting.

Speakers confirmed:

We are delighted to announce that we will be joined by representatives from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the NHS and Homeless Link to deliver an interactive session for attendees at our first event of 2019, aimed at health and social care staff.

Jane Cook, housing and health advisor for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government will present a briefing on ‘Health and Homelessness within the Rough Sleepers Initiative’.

Maxine Jenkins, specialist health visitor - homeless families, will deliver a workshop entitled ‘Homeless? Asking and understanding.’

Michaela Des Forges, policy manager for Homeless Link, will deliver a workshop based on a toolkit and learning resource they created for public health nurses and health visitors.

Spaces are still available - book your place now by emailing nhas@shelter.org.uk

Frontline staff working in the health and social care sector are invited to our event on housing and health, with a focus on children and families with housing issues.

It will take place in Manchester city centre, Wednesday 27th February 2019, from 10am - 1pm.

The format of the event will be similar to the successful Roadshow events we have run previously, with 2 workshops, a short briefing on how NHAS can support you to give quality housing advice, more detail on current housing legislation including the duty to refer and a chance to network with peers at a networking lunch.

More details on the workshops will be shared as speakers are confirmed.

Places are limited and allocated to health and social care staff first.
