Working with the private rented sector to tackle youth homelessness: a good practice report, Crisis 2012

The report focuses on ways of working with young people as a group with distinct needs that call for specifically targeted services. It aims to share the good practice found in a succinct and accessible form, describing approaches that are being put into practice successfully by a variety of organisations around the country.

Private renting toolkit, Crisis, 2012

This toolkit accompanies Crisis’ publication ‘Working with the private rented sector to tackle youth homelessness’ and is intended to provide guidance and tools that can be readily implemented by existing and prospective service providers. The Toolkit offers models and examples of the guidance and tools in a ‘ready-to-use’ format.

Unfair shares:a report on the impact of extending the Shared Accommodation Rate, Crisis/ Centre for Housing Policy, 2011

This research reviews the current and potential challenges of the Shared Accommodation Rate (SAR) of housing benefit and the impact of its extension to include claimants aged up to 35. The research raised concerns over the availability of shared properties both now and if SAR is extended. There were also concerns over the impact sharing had on claimants’ ability to stay in their homes, particularly for vulnerable groups.
