Training for professionals

Face-to-Face Courses & Briefings

Our face-to-face provides staff with the option to organise in-house training. All our training is free; we only ask that you provide a suitable venue. If you have between 8 and 16 delegates you can arrange for an in-house training course for your staff.

Our programme of training is always being developed to ensure we're providing you with support on the most essential topics and new areas of law, such as:

  • Assured Shorthold Tenancies: Section 21 Notices
  • Right to Rent: Immigration Checks
  • Prisoners Housing Rights
  • Introduction to Antisocial Behaviour and Harassment
  • Social Housing and Allocations
  • Young People, Housing and Homelessness
  • Homelessness and Temporary Accommodation

Polite request: the in-house/on demand training receives a high volume of requests, please ensure that you are able to provide a suitable room for the date and time agreed when securing your training dates as the high demand may mean that we are unable to secure an alternative date for you. If you do need to cancel or reschedule your training, please ensure that you provide us with a minimum of 4 weeks notice where possible.

How to book

Step 1: Set up a Training Portal Account

All scheduled face-to-face courses, briefings, webinars and e-learning courses can be booked through our online portal. You will need your unique training user ID and password to book.

If you don't yet have an account please send an email to nhastraining@shelter.org.uk stating your full name, organisation and postcode.

If you already have an account, please go to step 3.

Step 2: Download Our Portal Guides

Manager Portal Guide
If you are a manager and will be using the booking portal to book your staff onto courses then read the Manager Portal Guide. Within your manager portal you can review the course bookings you have made, create new users within your account, book courses for your users, view training history, and run reports.

Learner Portal Guide
The Learner Portal is the view of the booking portal that users (who are not designated as managers/account managers) will see when they log in. Within a user portal the learner can search for courses to book, view courses they are booked on to, book on to bitesize elearning and more.

Step 3: Book a Course

You will need your unique training user ID and password to book.
