A young person's accommodation and support pathway is about much more than housing.

Crucial to any young person's development will be the ability to successfully manage their finances. This section looks at how young people can be supported to learn money management skills, understand the benefits system, and become financially confident.

Helping young people manage money and debt

Supporting young people with training in budgeting and other life skills as they move into their own homes will help them manage their new households more successfully.

Benefits and financial support for young people

Young people who are out of work or on a low income may be able to claim benefits such as housing benefit, jobseeker's allowance or employment and support allowance.

Financial issues for students

Financial support may be available to young people to enable them to stay on at school or access further education and training.
