Helping professionals to give the best quality advice and support to people in housing need has been at the heart of what we do for 30 years.
Thanks to funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), Shelter's National Homelessness Advice Service has been able to provide free expert advice, training and information resources to professionals in England for 30 years. Led by the most up-to-date caselaw, policy changes and legislation, our expert training team are continuously reviewing and developing our offer. Our team of advice specialists provide independent and confidential advice though our telephone and webchat services.
Through our free learning events, we offer frontline professionals opportunities for cross-sector problem solving and networking, as well as the wider sharing and promotion of good practice. We contribute to policy consultations and work closely with other organisations to meet the needs of end users in housing need.
Our online information resources are freely available for download, and can be used in a variety of ways - such as printed general public information in an office setting, or to help someone with little housing knowledge to understand an issue - right through to supporting information in a more formal advice service setting.
Shelter provides free, confidential advice to people with all kinds of housing problems through our online housing information and our face-to-face local services. Our influential campaigns bring aspects of bad housing to the attention of the media and the public, who help us fight for solutions. As a leading expert on housing in Britain, we develop practical solutions to address the housing crisis.
We also work in conjunction with the housing sector to promote good practice, publish reports, and deliver training and resources for professionals. To visit the Shelter website, please click here.
