Who we are
The National Homelessness Advice Service (NHAS) is funded by Communities and Local Government and offers advice providers the specialist support and professional resources necessary for giving the most appropriate, accurate, and timely housing advice to people to help prevent them becoming homeless. Our expertise is second to none, drawn from the housing and advice specialisms of the partner organisations Shelter and Citizens Advice.
We’re a well-established service with an impressive track record of providing expert consultancy, flexibly tailored training, and up-to-date information to England’s network of Citizens Advice Bureaux and other voluntary advice agencies nationally. We are also a catalyst for change, encouraging local authorities and front-line advice agencies to work effectively together in partnership.

Citizens Advice
The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, housing money and other problems by providing free information and advice from over 3,000 locations, and by influencing policymakers.
Thw service has been operating since 1939 and Citizens Advice and each Citizens Advice Bureau are registered charities reliant on over 20,000 volunteers and need to raise funds to provide these vital services. We are one of the UK's largest voluntary organisations, helping people to resolve nearly 5.5 million new problems every year.
All Citizens Advice Bureaux in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are members of Citizens Advice, the national charity which sets standards for advice and equal opportunities and supports bureaux with an information system, training and other services.

Shelter
Shelter was founded in 1966, during a time of public outcry about homelessness and bad housing in Britain.
Shelter's vision is that everyone should have a home - somewhere decent, safe, affordable and permanent.
Shelter helps more than 170,000 people a year fight for their rights, get back on their feet, and find and keep a home.
